Chief Margaret Ackley - Biography

Margaret Ackley has served the New London Police Department since 1986, working her way through the ranks of Supernumerary Police Officer, Patrol Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain before being sworn in as Chief of Police on June 26, 2009.

Chief Ackley has a Master's degree in Public Administration, a Bachelor's degree in Fire Science Administration, and an Associate's degree in Business Management. She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, 184th Session.  She is a member of the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association, as well as a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Her administration is committed to four core values: leadership, integrity, pride, and professionalism.
